Settling in part 2

Well, that didn’t happen, did it?
Thursday, we did get the satellite dish installed and working inthe morning and in the afternoon picked up Leigh & Barry and of fto Manzanillo.
All went well at the TelMex office and our internet was “promised”to be working in 4 days.
On the way back the girls had to stop at WalMart and another$200.00 later, we’re on the road home with all the “special” things that aren’t readily available in Melaque.
Along the way, we had to drive through Chiuatlan, the area that seems to be hardest hit by “Jova”, some places are devastating to see. The town is built on the banks of a “normally”dry river. Well it sure wasn’t dry during the storm, the river came to within 2 feet of the bridge, which is usually about 30 feet above the river bed. It then spilled over the banks and took out about a hundred feet of the highway and the army checkpoint on the state border.
I’m having trouble posting pictures, but I will as soon as I can figure it out.

There are reports that there may be upwards of 200 people missing.It’s difficult to get accurate information here, so we have to dependon our Mexican friends and the underground news.
The next couple of days we spent unpacking, cleaning, repairing and placing the stuff that we had stored away last April. I alsospent a “few” hours with our landlord “Conrado”trying to locate keys and get Eric’s van out of the garage and theinfo for the car computer, after two days,,, mission accomplished.
We also have discovered the reason for afternoon “siestas”,it gets just too hot and humid to do anything but sit, drink orsleep. Sleeping is the least fattening.
Thanks to our newly installed A. C. we can get it cool enough tohave a nice nap in the afternoon, the only problem is that we have toturn off almost every other electrical appliance or we trip the one20 amp breaker that feeds the whole apartment, remember this ain’t”Amway”, it’s “Mexway”.
Anyway, we are getting settled into our winter home and will tryto update a little more often.
Hugsssssssssssss to all;
Dan

This bridge at Cihuatlan is normally 30 ft. above the water.
