Quiet here.

Not a whole lot going on around here, we went to a surprise birthday party for Frances, in Barra de Navadad, last week.
She and her spouse used to stay at the Bungalows Mallorca, about the same time we did.
So, we ran into a lot of people, we don’t see too often.

Lots of folks at Tom & Frances's place in Barra.

Great time, great food (pot luck) and great meeting friends of old.

And here's the birthday girl.

Last Sunday evening we took our usual walk to the town square, and there was a stage set up and were told there would be some type of show after church let out at 9: PM.
It was a fashion show of (we assume) local dressmakers, as there were lots of Mexicans in the audience. The gowns were spectacular to say the least, and the models were equally nice?

The stage lighting leaves a bit to be desired!

Off to Manzanillo tomorrow and Collima on Thursday, so maybe there will be tales to tell.

Sorry Katie.

I don’t know if anybody noticed the comment that Katie made on the “More frequent posts” blog, but she showed interest in the 3 in 1 paintings. Well sorry Katie, but we found a wonderful spot for it,,, LOL. So it may be a while before we tire of it.

Now,,, doesn't that look nice???

Here is their (it’s) home for now.

Pretty quiet here right now, but we’re headed to Manzanillo and Colima next week.

Maybe people should avoid Cornwall too!

Are you guys up there feeling less secure now???? It doesn’t just happen in Mexico.

Maybe the guy that did the shooting here has fled north… LOL

From this morning’s Freeholder,,,

“AKWESASNE – A man is in hospital after being robbed and shot in the leg last night.
At approximately 8:30 p.m. Saint Regis Mohawks Tribal Police responded to an incident on the ice bridge.
Two unknown suspects shot at a 31-year-old Akwesasne man, striking him in the leg. He was robbed of a small amount of cash before he was shot.
The suspects fled the scene on snowmobiles.
A second victim was unharmed during the ordeal and remained on scene until police arrived.
The 31-year-old victim was transported to Cornwall Regional Hospital where he received treatment.
Tribal Police are looking for two suspects. They are described as two males, in black snowsuits with black helmets. They were driving black Ski-do snowmobiles.
Police are asking that anyone with information call Det. Sgt. Matthew Rourke at 518-***-****”

Beach Evening.

The other evening Betty and I decided to take a walk up to the end of the newly “paved” Alvaro Obregon.

You can see our town isn't too big, this main street only goes to the mountain and the beach is just a few yards behind us.

Here’s the results of the “paving”, more like interlocking brick, but sure looks nice, with transplanted palm trees.

Along the way Betty tried to befriend a critter (as usual), not great results.

Not my kinds friend !!!,, the ugly critter, I mean...

We continued up the beach to “Bagotes” for beer and supper, garlic shrimp for the Boop and fajitas for me. Four Cold beer, good food with wonderful view on the beach for 201 pesos, that’s about 13 bucks. You wonder why we stay here???? LOL.

Where else can you see the local families playing “pick-up” soccer on the beach just before sunset?

Check where the ball is headed,,,wet return,,, LOL

You may have noticed that I have done some house-cleaning on the blog, there are now categories on the left, or below, by date and location so it should be easier to find something and less pages to load. There is still more to be done as I figure out how this thing works.

Soon;

Happy New Years

Ok, OK, OK, so I’m the world’s worst, best, most efficient procrastinator, hahaha.

Some people have been on my case for not updating this blog, (really,,, not many, just persistent).

There are times, when I sit down here and the words just seem to flow onto the page, and then there are times when I sit here and write “The” and nothing, nothing, nothing. It’s just easier to play Solitaire!

Now where was I??? Oh ya, Christmas night, the fireworks continued till sometime after 4 AM. Not an early morning for us, (to say the least), and it’s Ray’s 70th birthday and Tere has organized a surprise party for him. We arrive as planned, at about 5:30 with the requested munchies and there are already about 25 friends and family there. I think the party grew to about 50 and Ray was actually surprised.

Here's the birthday boy with some of his family.

and here, is a very small number of the partiers.

We kept a pretty low profile for the next couple of days to prepare for New Years Eve.

We had to go to Cihuatlan to get photos for our FM3, (kinda like an extended visa) and then on our return, the car starts acting up, we made it home OK but it smelled very hot and was missing badly, sounds funny running on 3 cylinders.

The next day (Friday) I get Conrado (our landlord) to take me to a mechanic, who he recommends as knowledgeable and fair. Once we finally get him “Poncho” to look at it, he knows the problem and hands us the defective part in about 5 minutes, and sends us off to look for a replacement. At our third try, we find a place where they have a computer and access to a database, somewhere, and discover there is a part that should, (might) work in Guadalajara. Remember, the “Toyota Echo” was never sold in Mexico, but the later model “Yaris” is, and they can get the part (a coil) shipped,,, but,, it is now 5:15 on Friday, the day before New Years Eve, (I can just imagine finding someone still working at this time in the U. S. or Canada). They say, the part “might” be shipped today, but won’t likely get here till Monday. It came in Monday morning and we got it installed by 11 AM, and all is well, about $75.00 later.

Ann arrived from Canada, with a huge supply of stuff for all, Betty and I were anxious to see the “Android Cruz” tablets, we had bought ourselves for Christmas. (I’ll let you know when we figure them out),,, LOL, and the parts for my hearing aids.

New Years Eve we spent with the poker gang at Leigh & Barry’s with a pot luck, poker (I lost at my table and Betty came in second at her’s), a viewing of Linda & Ann’s pictures of their trip to Morocco and fireworks. We’ve never seen so many fireworks here before, and some were quite spectacular.  We also had the pleasure of sending off, paper, hot air balloons from their roof, it was great to see them disappear into the night sky.

The local folk were still partying on the street as we got home about 1:30 AM and the noise continued till sometime after 4 again.

Our favourite Taco Stand

I thought I’d throw in a picture of  our favourite evening Taco stand, on the corner of the square. This is what we mean by “eating on the street”.

I still have to blog about our “stairway to the stars”, well,, maybe next time.

Things should be pretty quiet for the next few weeks, but we’ll see.

May you all be blessed with good health and good fortune;

Dan
