Ok, OK, OK, so I’m the world’s worst, best, most efficient procrastinator, hahaha.
Some people have been on my case for not updating this blog, (really,,, not many, just persistent).
There are times, when I sit down here and the words just seem to flow onto the page, and then there are times when I sit here and write “The” and nothing, nothing, nothing. It’s just easier to play Solitaire!
Now where was I??? Oh ya, Christmas night, the fireworks continued till sometime after 4 AM. Not an early morning for us, (to say the least), and it’s Ray’s 70th birthday and Tere has organized a surprise party for him. We arrive as planned, at about 5:30 with the requested munchies and there are already about 25 friends and family there. I think the party grew to about 50 and Ray was actually surprised.

and here, is a very small number of the partiers.
We kept a pretty low profile for the next couple of days to prepare for New Years Eve.
We had to go to Cihuatlan to get photos for our FM3, (kinda like an extended visa) and then on our return, the car starts acting up, we made it home OK but it smelled very hot and was missing badly, sounds funny running on 3 cylinders.
The next day (Friday) I get Conrado (our landlord) to take me to a mechanic, who he recommends as knowledgeable and fair. Once we finally get him “Poncho” to look at it, he knows the problem and hands us the defective part in about 5 minutes, and sends us off to look for a replacement. At our third try, we find a place where they have a computer and access to a database, somewhere, and discover there is a part that should, (might) work in Guadalajara. Remember, the “Toyota Echo” was never sold in Mexico, but the later model “Yaris” is, and they can get the part (a coil) shipped,,, but,, it is now 5:15 on Friday, the day before New Years Eve, (I can just imagine finding someone still working at this time in the U. S. or Canada). They say, the part “might” be shipped today, but won’t likely get here till Monday. It came in Monday morning and we got it installed by 11 AM, and all is well, about $75.00 later.
Ann arrived from Canada, with a huge supply of stuff for all, Betty and I were anxious to see the “Android Cruz” tablets, we had bought ourselves for Christmas. (I’ll let you know when we figure them out),,, LOL, and the parts for my hearing aids.
New Years Eve we spent with the poker gang at Leigh & Barry’s with a pot luck, poker (I lost at my table and Betty came in second at her’s), a viewing of Linda & Ann’s pictures of their trip to Morocco and fireworks. We’ve never seen so many fireworks here before, and some were quite spectacular. We also had the pleasure of sending off, paper, hot air balloons from their roof, it was great to see them disappear into the night sky.
The local folk were still partying on the street as we got home about 1:30 AM and the noise continued till sometime after 4 again.

Our favourite Taco Stand
I thought I’d throw in a picture of our favourite evening Taco stand, on the corner of the square. This is what we mean by “eating on the street”.
I still have to blog about our “stairway to the stars”, well,, maybe next time.
Things should be pretty quiet for the next few weeks, but we’ll see.
May you all be blessed with good health and good fortune;
Dan
